Meet Leonard, Sheldon, Penny, Rajesh and Howard, four genius scientists, and a very pretty and sweet aspiring actress. The setting is Pasadena, California, and the combined geekiness and heavy-duty intelligence of the four male cast members is perfectly balanced by the common sense and beauty of their female foil. This is The Big Bang Theory, and if you’re a fan, you can’t be without The Big Bang Theory: The Complete Third Season.
Hitting the small screen in 2007, The Big Bang Theory has won awards and garnered plenty of attention for being one of those smart and funny sitcoms that doesn’t let up on the humor, and manages to keep things fresh and new – not wearing out old themes, and never overdoing it when it comes to a formula that works.
And while anyone who has ever been accused of being a geek can almost certainly relate to this hilarious show, being a geek isn’t prerequisite for owning and enjoying The Big Bang Theory: The Complete Third Season. Even non-geeks love it!
Another success for CBS and creators and executive producers Chuck Lorre and Bill Prady, The Big Bang Theory premiered its third season as CBS’ highest rated show for that evening in the adults 18-49 demographic.
Season three of The Big Bang Theory starts out with Sheldon leaving California to return home to Texas after he discovers that his friends have been tampering with the results of his Arctic research project. Leonard and Penny also make a hilarious attempt at romance.
As the third season unfolds hilarity ensues as a visit is made to a Goth bar, Sheldon appears on an NPR program, a bowling tournament takes place with a guest appearance by Wil Wheaton, and Internet dating becomes and option. These and other situations, which could be pretty ho-hum, become almost unbearably funny when this cast is thrown in the mix.
Viewers have made plenty of comments about The Big Bang Theory. One helpful fan has mentioned that you should not eat or drink anything while watching, because you might find it being spit out when you can’t control your laughter. Another viewer has pointed out that this show, while very funny, also illustrates the truth that it’s OK to be different—not everyone has to be “cool” to be cool.
Special features included with the third season DVD set are a tour of the set with Kunal Nayyar (Rajesh) and Simon Helberg (Howard), a gag reel, and take-out with the cast.
